Olive oil regions

22 growing regions across 5 countries, counted from the 117 oils in the library. Each card opens the library filtered to that region.

A region is counted the way its producers write it on the label — Puglia, not Italy; the Edremit Gulf as North Aegean.

Olive oil is an agricultural product before it is a brand, and the region tells you more than the bottle does: the varieties that grow there, when the harvest falls, how the oil is expected to taste. Andalusia means Picual and Hojiblanca in volume; Puglia means Coratina’s bitterness; the Turkish Aegean means Ayvalık and Memecik picked green in September.

There are no region pages yet. The counts here are the library’s own — how many oils and producers we hold from each area — never an estimate of what is planted or pressed there.
