Cretan Heritage One Root
Mia Riza — “one root” — is the Koroneiki line and the one to cook with: priced as an everyday oil and offered in a five-litre tin as well as the bottle. The producer picks at what it calls a satisfying ripening stage and avoids overripe fruit, pressing the same day at about 27 °C. No polyphenol figure or acidity is published; Berlin’s 2025 Gold was given “for remarkably high polyphenol content”, in the producer’s words, and Athena placed it Silver in 2025 in the competition’s own list. Green herbs, fresh-picked olive and a clearly peppery finish, in our partner’s description. The shop lists a PDO; no producer or competition source names one, so we do not.

Where it's from
Kissamos is the westernmost olive country on Crete, where the Koroneiki groves run down to the sea; the producer says the trees “inhale the breeze of the Cretan Sea”.
