Included as the benchmark: the PDO Kalamata most people outside Greece have actually tasted, bottled by the Gyfteas family’s Agrovim from a network of Messinian growers rather than one estate. Unripe green Koroneiki cold-extracted within 24 hours, medium fruity — green banana, artichoke, cut grass, tomato and dried nuts with a slight peppery finish — in the producer’s sheet. A 2025 NYIOOC Gold is reported through a retailer citing the company; Athena 2025 gave the Iliada line several medals in its published results. Polyphenols and acidity are not published. A reliable, consistent oil rather than a rare one.

Locator map: Kalamata, Messinia, Peloponnese, Greece

Kalamata PDO covers oil, not just the table olive of the same name; the zone is the Messinian plain and hills around the city, Koroneiki almost exclusively.
