Kyklopas Ages PDO Makris
Makri
An oil from the northern edge of the olive’s range: the Makri variety grows around one village near Alexandroupoli and almost nowhere else, and the Kelidis family’s mill, founded 1982, presses it early under PDO Makris. Ripe banana, freshly cut grass, hints of tomato and green apple, green almond and black pepper, in the producer’s and its retailer’s descriptors. Athena’s 2025 published results gave Ages Organic Double Gold and Best of Thrace, and the 2026 list gives Ages Limited Reserve Gold and Best of Thrace. One producer post reports a lot at 812 mg/kg polyphenols and 0.13% acidity — undated, method not given — so it is quoted here and not metered.
