We came to this expecting packaging and found a properly made oil. It is genuinely extra virgin, correctly milled, and blended to remove the single attribute children refuse while keeping enough Picual to matter nutritionally. The 250 ml bottle is the right call: a household that uses oil this mild will not get through 500 ml before it tires. Two honest caveats — the producer does not publish a polyphenol figure for it, so treat the health argument as modest, and an adult should not expect to enjoy it neat. As a first olive oil for a child, or a present for new parents, it is hard to fault.
Nobleza del Sur Only for Children
An extra virgin oil blended on purpose for children: mostly Arbequina, naturally soft and faintly sweet, with a measured share of Picual added for polyphenols and oleic acid. The design problem is real — bitterness and pungency are exactly the attributes a child rejects, and they are also where most of the health value sits — and this is a sensible answer to it rather than a gimmick.
Tasting notes
Gentle and rounded: ripe apple and sweet almond, a light green note where the Picual shows through, and no bitterness worth recording. The pungency registers as a mild warmth at the back of the throat rather than pepper. An adult palate will read it as simple; the achievement is that a four-year-old eats it on pasta without noticing it is there, which is harder to make than a robust oil.
