Buta Assos

An estate at Kulfal, in the hills behind the ancient city of Assos, founded by Nurlan Yusifov, with an Italian Mori-Tem press beside the grove and oils stored under argon and bottled to order. Its reputation rests on one unusual olive: Hanım Parmağı, a Çanakkale variety registered in 2017, which it bottles as Freyya Nefes. Freyya, Odin, Idun and Assos are product lines, not companies.

The estate

Estate size, tree count, altitude and soil are not published. A Turkish olive journal counts about five hundred Hanım Parmağı trees mixed through the Kulfal grove. Harvest is early and by hand, with fruit never touching the ground and pressed the same day; the Golden Taste blend is picked in August. The producer lists FDA, kosher and organic-agriculture certificates without naming the issuers.

Extraction on a Mori-Tem line at the estate; storage in stainless steel at 16–18 °C under argon; filled to order into dark glass with a nitrogen flush. Company-level credentials: Flos Olei 2026 at 91 points, and a claimed 40 international awards. Freyya Nefes sits in the 100-point tier of the World’s Best Olive Oils 2025/26 under the company name. An Olive Japan 2026 Double Gold claimed on the Japanese site could not be found in Olive Japan’s published results.
