Almazaras de la Subbética
A cooperative of around four thousand member families formed in 2007 from the merger of two older ones, working groves inside and around the Sierras Subbéticas natural park. It placed three oils in the top forty of the World’s Best Olive Oils 2025/26.

The estate
The two founding cooperatives were Virgen del Castillo at Carcabuey, founded in 1954, and Nuestro Padre Jesús Nazareno at Priego de Córdoba, founded in the early 1960s. Both mills still run; Carcabuey also houses bottling and design. The groves are Hojiblanca, Picuda and Picual, spread across Carcabuey, Priego de Córdoba, Fuente-Tójar and Almedinilla.
This is mountain country by Andalusian standards: higher rainfall than the plain, wide day-to-night temperature swings, and a harvest picked by hand in late autumn. The premium oils are bottled under DOP Priego de Córdoba; the organic coupage is sold outside it.
